How to Escape the Tie with Pete Shoemaker
It is critical to escape the tie in order to begin your attacks against your opponent. These three methods of using shrugs depend on being able to straighten out your opponent’s arm.
The first way starts with you putting your fist into your opponent’s collar bone on the same side as the arm you want to straighten. The pressure gets both their and your arm straight. You then step inside and make the fist into a cup. You then cup their tricep and pull it up while you slip through.
The second method can be used if your opponent is too strong for you to straighten out their arm, or they are wise to your move. You pinch down on their arm, which in turn makes them resist the downward bend, so they straighten their arm as a reflexive reaction. Then you cup the tricep and slip through like in the first way.
The third way is good if neither the first, nor second ways are working for you. You start by making your opponent think you are taking terrible shot at the leg. As you opponent steps back, you swing your arm back up, hitting the back of their arm and slipping through.
These three ways to escape the tie are great ways to stop the deadlock and get onto the offensive. Expect more techniques from Pete in the coming weeks and months as he shares his wealth of knowledge with the Revgear Sports community.
